CHANGE TO TERMS REGARDING EMAIL AND BULK EMAILING – PLEASE READ CAREFULLY! (updated 12/6/07)
Because of complaints from Yahoo! and other mail providers, we have changed and clarified our terms and policies in regard to the sending of newsletters and other mass mailings.
Effective immediately, all mailing practices sent by clients of Virtualtech (heretofore referred to as "Client"), to mass mailing lists hosted by Virtualtech and containing email addresses (owners of said addresses heretofore referred to as "Recipients") collected by Client, must now comply with the following in its entirety:
Each email address, collected by any "offline" means, provided by Client to Virtualtech for inclusion in Client's mailing list must be accompanied by a written statement from Recipient, stating that the owner of the address has explicitly agreed to receive email messages from said client.
Virtualtech will only add Recipients to a mailing list by passing addresses through a "double opt-in" process in which Recipient must agree to their addition to said list by following a link in a confirmation email message (heretofore referred to as "Agreement"). If Agreement is not received, Recipient will not be added to the list. If Agreement is received, Recipient will be added to said list and the date of Agreement will be noted in Recipient's entry in Virtualtech's mailing list database.
All online forms of list subscription requests must follow the "double opt-in" procedure outlined above. Any sites designed and hosted by Virtualtech will automatically include this procedure as part of the subscription process.
Client must maintain their lists and immediately remove any Recipients who request to be removed. Additionally, Client must immediately remove any Recipient after receipt of a "bounce message" due to an invalid address. Any sites designed and hosted by Virtualtech will automatically include this procedure as part of the subscription process.
Violations of the above procedures are very serious, because the ramifications of these violations affect all Virtualtech clients, not just the violator.
As such, Virtualtech has instituted a zero tolerance policy in respect to this. Violators of the above procedures will IMMEDIATELY have their mailing privileges revoked.
Following these procedures should not considered a hardship, but rather a step toward more effective marketing, for by following these procedures you are ensuring that you are reaching only subscribers who are genuinely interested in the goods and services you provide.
Of course, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact Virtualtech.
